TURKEY Part 8 - Day 4

The fourth day we boarded the bus and drove through the mountains inland. There were mountains on both side with orchards and crops everywhere. Mid morning we stopped at a leather factory. We were treated to a private fashion show of some of their products. Following the show we were taken to the store. The coats were simply beautiful. The leather was the softest I have ever seen and also very thin. They pride themselves on the quality of their ultra-thin lambskin leather. The prices really reflected that pride. When we showed any interest they were very persistent on trying to sell you a coat. The salesman ever got down to $1200 for two coats, one for each of us. But we resisted. We really don't have anywhere to wear them for the next few years. After leaving the factory we drove to this simply beautiful restaurant for lunch. We ate outdoors and the setting was amazing. Here are a few pictures of where we were.

Here is the path leading into the where the tables were situated.

There were even ducks in the stream. It was a cool, peaceful setting.
After lunch we drove to Pamukale and ancient Hieropolis. There are natural hot water springs that have left cascading terraces of white calcium deposits on the hill side. The cliff above the deposits were beautifully landscaped.
Here is a view from the top looking out over the valley. You can see the different terraces that have formed on the sides.
This is looking from one side across to the other. These cliffs are about a mile across and drop several hundred feed down the mountainside.
At one place you are even allowed to walk out on the deposits. But you have to remove your shoes.
Another view across the deposits.
Here are some of the terraces and the calcium dripping down.
The place was simple beautiful. In some places each terrace had standing water in it. When it evaporates it leave the beautiful white deposits.
We walked around to the far side of the cliffs. The view was simply beautiful.

Next I will post the ruins built on the top of the plateau above the cliffs.
